London-based designers Jack Beveridge and Joshua Lake have started the Children’s Furniture project, where they have constructed chairs from drawings done by children.
The designers said “We wanted to explore the untainted imagination of a child. a class of 7-8 year olds designed their vision of a chair, we made them into reality.”
They held a class at St. John’s Church of England Primary School in Kingston, Surrey, and gave each child a piece of paper and asked them to draw a chair. The duo then took it upon themselves to transform the drawing into reality.
The result is a wacky, whimsical, out of this world chair that looks exactly like its original drawing. A total of 27 chairs will be eventually produced.
