Redesigning the office has never been easier with the advent of modular furniture. Small offices often prefer modular furniture because it easily allows office space to be changed and modified according to its needs.
Designed by Japanese studio Nendo for furniture manufacturer a href="http://www.kokuyo.com/en/">Kokuyo, the ‘ofon’ is a suite of furniture with a unique joint system that can be screwed with a coin, and does not require any other tools to assemble. The joints lie flush when not in use, and spring out when pressed with a finger.
The joint system can be used to connect box-type shelves and flat panels to create a variety of desks and shelving systems. Upholstered panels can also be used to create cupboard doors of partitions between desks.
The ‘ofon’ design allows “workers to focus and relax within the same small place privately, and openly when needed, giving individuals both 'on' and 'off' space, almost as easily as pushing a button”.
