A Website That Maps All Of Banksy’s Artwork In NYC So You Can Steal It

Followers of Banksy can look to ‘Steal Banksy’, a website that shows the locations of all his works in New York City and each time they are defaced.

It seems like the site’s creators wanted to provide more than just updates on the British street artist’s movements; they are actually urging people to steal the artworks for themselves.

The official statement on the site reads, “The inspiring thing about Banksy is he prompts people to shake things up. The art world, the world at large – nothing’s safe. For us, that has to include his work too. We’re just asking the question: Wouldn’t you want a Banksy before MoMA gets it? Then do it! Get out to the street auction and make it ours, not theirs”.

Banksy, who is in the Big Apple for a month-long street art residency called ‘Better Out Than In’, has finally reacted to the vandalism and theft surrounding his artwork.

He reportedly paid $50,000 to hang two canvases under an overpass on West 24th Street between 10th and 11th Avenues complete with armed guards.

With eight days left, the controversy surrounding Banksy and his artwork shows no sign of abating.

Head over to the tongue-in-cheek ‘Steal Banksy’ site for your daily dose of Banksy antics.
