Art Directors Club Annual Gets Turned Into An iPad Case As A Modern Update

The first time in 92 years, to give the Art Directors Club (ADC) annual a modern update for the digital era, the group decided to create an app and iPad cases that take after the printed ADC annuals.

ADC worked with Brazilian consultancy The Goodfellas to create the 100% digital ‘ADC Annual 92’ app that features the year’s winners, and worked with Pete Rossi of RM&CO and San Francisco-based company DODOcase to create the iPad cases.

The limited-edition cases were inspired by the 1920s annuals that were crafted with a Paul Manship Medallion that represent “the club’s original highest honor”, according to ADC in a blog post.

Made out of Moroccan book cloth and using traditional book-binding methods, the ADC iPad case has a bamboo tray “created with both aesthetics and protection in mind,” ADC wrote. Its exterior has features that were “triple-stamped in [gold] foils, capturing every last detail.”

Retailing at about US$60-100, the iPad cases are given only to the first 500 ADC members who download the ADC Annual 92 iPad app.
