Banksy’s ‘Hammer Boy’ Appears On Upper West Side, Almost Gets Defaced

For the 20th day of his “Better Out Than In” exhibit in New York, Banksy did a simple piece depicting a child wielding a hammer next to a fire hydrant.

The piece is located on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, 79th Street, just East of Broadway. Unlike Banksy’s previous works, this one has no text or audio description.

It seems that New Yorkers are in favor of Banksy’s works—Gothamist reports that a man became riled up after another man walked up to deface the piece with a can of spray paint. The latter’s attempt was foiled eventually.
