Shaun of The Dead
Artist and lecturer George Pfau paints scenes of zombies, but not in any ordinary way. His landscape paintings are done in the impressionist/pointillist style, rendered with oil paints. Each painting is based on a scene from a zombie film or television show, and he calls them ‘Zombiescapes’.
In the larger landscape, the zombies appear as small dots of color—and so do the people. There is a zoom-in feature on Pfau’s website, and on close-up, the zombies bleed into the background and are largely indiscernible.
It’s hard to tell zombie from human, and perhaps Pfau’s abstract paintings can offer astute insight on how we identify and differentiate zombies. Try and spot the zombies in some of these paintings.
