‘Surplus Candy’ is an illegal art show, in which 43 street artists secretly painted three entire floors of a condemned NYC apartment building.
Put together by street artist Hanksy, his inspiration for the show came about when a friend suggested holding a party in an abandoned building. After viewing the space, Hanksy thought it would be a “great opportunity to host a brief, and completely illegal, art show,” according to Gizmodo.
Over the period of six days, street artists from all over New York visited the building to decorate the rooms, toilets and walls with their “own brand of art”.
