French photographer Rémi Noël has a photo series, in which he captures his miniature plastic Batman toy exploring the world around them.
Describing how he acquired the toy, Noël said that he stole it from his son when he was cleaning his room. “Since I go to the United States by myself, I take Batman with me to feel less alone. And I take him out—I set him up in scenarios.”
A sense of loneliness surrounds his photos with his Batman toy looking almost out of place in most of the images. Perhaps they serve as a metaphor for Noël’s loneliness in the US.
