A Beautiful 19th Century Font Inspired By Nature

200 years ago, British artist L.E.M. Jones created a beautiful font inspired by nature which he called ‘The Landscape Alphabet’.

The rustic typeface features countrysides, seascapes, castles, woods, rivers, pathways and other idyllic scenes curved to form the letters of the alphabet. Each letter is rendered in soft black and gray tones against a cream background, radiating a delicate, graceful beauty.

Not much is known about Jones, but fortunately his work was printed and published by London-based lithographic painter and printer Charles Joseph Hullmandel, ensuring its survival to this day.
