Photographer Captures His Miniature Clones ‘Helping’ Him With His Work

Based in Hong Kong, Indonesian photographer Ari Mahardhika has created a lively photo series that features miniature versions of himself.

In this “Mini Me” series, Mahardhika began by thinking of the poses and the positions these miniature clones would have in the photograph. After that, he photographed himself against a white background, altered the individual clones and put them together to form a complete image.

These miniature clones are shown collaborating with the photographer, who appears as a giant. It is possible that Mahardhika is exploring how these multiple facets of himself come to form a whole, as he shows how different parts of himself come into play during the creative process.

Each copy of Mahardhika also represents a part of his internal dialogue, representing the different stages of the creative process. His clones create a busy atmosphere, almost as though we are witnessing what goes on during a photoshoot.
