Design magazine Wallpaper’s US editor Michael Reynolds and New York City-based glass artist Jeff Zimmerman have collaborated on a range of stylish and sculptural blown-glass sex toys.
The collection, titled ‘Adult Tool Kit’, was created for this year’s Wallpaper Handmade collection, an annual event showcasing collaborations between designers, artists and manufacturers.
According to Dezeen,, Reynolds was inspired to come up with the sex toys after seeing some erotic-looking glass samples in Zimmerman’s studio.
Zimmerman hand-blew the entire range in black glass, which includes gags, a candle holder, and vaginal and anal plugs. The leather straps and brass fittings were made by accessories brand TM1985.
A highlight of the collection is two sets of dildos; ‘Unicorn I and II’ are a couple of wands with horsehair tails attached to one end, while ‘Deflower I and II’ features petal-shaped decorations on top of stopper-shaped bases.
Reynolds sought inspiration from the work of photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, fashion designers Karl Lagerfeld, Helmut Lang and Rick Owens, and the 1969 film The Damned, which all possess a “very black, sleek, high-fashion look.”
In keeping with their naughty nature, the toys come with suggestive names like ‘Suck It’, ‘Big Ben’ and ‘F*** Face.’
If you’re wondering if they’re suitable for use, Reynolds said that they’re meant to be looked at rather than played with.
“I don’t suggest that anyone shove glass up their ass or their c***, down their throat or in their ear, but whatever somebody does with them is their own business. They were made to be more artful, sculptural and conceptual objects.”
