United Kingdom-based designer Richard Gray has redesigned the covers of his favorite Japanese Manga books, changing them to a minimalistic, classic style; the same style of his other favorite type of books, Penguin books.
Merging two of his favorites, Gray describes his technique as a “minimalist flat design and clean typography to convey elements of a narrative in a visually concise manner".
Most of the artwork was created in Illustrator CS6, then imported to Photoshop CS6 to create book mockups.
He adds, "In translating classic manga to the Penguin style, I aimed to use bold illustrations and suitable colours to suggest factors of the story, be it a particular character or story element.”
