Striking Photos Of A Compulsive Hoarder’s Cluttered Home

Photographer Corinna Kern gave us a peek into George Fowler’s cluttered four-bedroom council house in her photo series ‘George’s World’.

Fowler, a compulsive hoarder, filled the nooks and crannies of his house with assorted items that he picked up from pavements and dustbins, hoping to find a use for them instead of throwing them away. According to Kern, his hoarding tendencies started after he experienced strong shortages during the post-war times.

In Kern’s photos, Fowler’s well-groomed appearance—he is often pictured wearing a suit—is a stark contrast to the pile of newspapers and strewn clothes and cardboard boxes that surround him.
