If Albrecht, the lead male ballet dancer from Giselle, owned a sewing kit, it would probably be encased in a small wooden box that comes with an elegant accordion-like pocket.
The sewing kit, specially made on request by the Royal Ballet School in London, was created by communication design student Stacy Park.
The interior of the sewing kit was inspired by the Bridge of Aspiration, which links the Royal Opera House to the Royal Ballet School.
The delicate twists of the bridge, which “reflects the flexibility and gracefulness of ballet”, inspired Park to include multiple folds in the sewing kit’s pocket, allowing the user to retrieve essential sewing items like thread, needles, and safety pins easily.
