To promote the phone-reviving properties of ‘Reviveaphone’, a chemical solution that resuscitates waterlogged smartphones, Montreal-based ad agency lg2 came up with an amusing stunt showing an iPhone 6 being dunked in a pitcher of beer.
In the ad, a man named Michael Mooney flies halfway around the world to Australia get his hands on the “world’s first iPhone 6” from the Apple store in Brisbane.
With the phone secured, he proceeds to drop it in a pitcher full of beer and the phone goes dead as expected.
He then soaks it in the solution for seven minutes and leaves it to dry for 24 hours. When the 24 hours are up, Mooney presses the power button—miraculously, the Apple logo glows on screen and he even manages to make a phone call.
The ‘Revivaphone’ was created by Oliver Murphy, and 95% of phones subjected to the treatment are successfully revived.
Check out the ad below. What do you think—is it a clever way of marketing the ‘Reviveaphone’ or is it just plain silly?
