Airbnb Launches ‘Pineapple’, A Print Magazine For Travelers

Home rental platform Airbnb is launching Pineapple, a quarterly print magazine dedicated to travel, according to a press release on Monday.

Named after the symbol of hospitality, the magazine will be officially launched at the Airbnb Open conference in San Francisco this Friday.

“Travel on Airbnb is about more than sightseeing and consuming, it’s about connections and community. Our new magazine, Pineapple, will combine the emotional and practical sides of traveling by giving a comprehensive guide to neighborhoods and cities, as well as capturing the sense of belonging that comes from a memorable trip,” said CMO Jonathan Mildenhall.

Aside from travel, Pineapple will cover topics like culture, art and food, with an emphasis on photography and design. Readers can expect “neighborhood guides, insider tips, and unique, personal stories”, with content from “experienced Airbnb travelers or hosts”.

Each issue will focus on three cities; London, Seoul and San Francisco take centerstage in the inaugural issue, which is 128 pages and contains no ads.

18,000 copies of the magazine will be distributed free to Airbnb hosts worldwide, with limited quantities for sale in bookshops and magazine stores across North America and Europe. It will retail at US$12 in the US, £9 in the UK and €11 in Europe.
