Updated Google ‘Translate’ App Offers Real-Time Translations With Your Phone

Google has updated its ‘Translate’ app to let you translate words in real-time with your smartphone camera.

To use, simply load your camera and point your phone at the text or sign you want to translate, and the translated words will appear on your screen. The best part is it’s totally free and you don’t need an internet connection to access the app.

If it sounds similar to the ‘Word Lens’ app, that’s because the search engine giant bought it over last year and integrated it into its official ‘Translate’ app.

The app currently supports translations from English to French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish available, with support for more languages in the works.

Head over to iTunes and Google Play to download the new and improved app.
