The Personal Jetpack May Now Finally Become A Reality

After decades of existing only in the realm of science fiction, the personal jetpack may soon become a reality.

London-based Australian designer Marc Newson has developed a wearable jetpack—in partnership with a French aerospace company—that will allow its user to fly independently.

With a shell made of carbon fibre, “the possible airtime one can receive using the personal air travel device ranges between 45 minutes and an hour”—Newson has also designed the jetpack for take-off and landing pads, much like helicopters.

Although the personal jetpack is not a new idea, this latest version—intended to be available for the public—is probably the most technologically and commercially viable one yet.
