California-based company Tactus Technology has unveiled a touchscreen tablet that turns into a real keyboard with pop-up buttons at the CES 2013.
Using ‘micro-fluid technology’, physical buttons rise from the surface of the screen, and recedes back when they are no longer needed—leaving a perfectly flat surface when gone.
According to Tectus CEO and founder, Craig Ciesla, he said that the technology can be configured into any design, and is not limited to just a QWERTY keyboard—for example, it can be applied to Android and Apple devices.
