60 Seconds Of Salary: Kobe Bryant, President Obama, US Min And Average Wage

Most of us think in 'per hour' or 'per month' terms, when it comes to our wages. Calculating wage in terms less than those, might seem too 'trivial'.

Nonetheless, taking that today is a work day and that we understand the old adage of 'time is money', let us look at how much people can earn in a minute around the clock, based on an average work week of about 40+ hours.

According to a video on CNN Money, the first 5 seconds you have spent reading this article would mean that Kobe Bryant has taken home USD$14—twice as much as what a minimum wage worker earns in 2 hours.

In the 30 seconds (on average) that you would take to read this article and glance at the images attached, Bryant would have earned $81.27; a teacher at elementary school, $0.21 and a US employee paid the minimum wage would have earned $0.06.

At the 45 second mark, an average physician would have earned a dollar, President Obama would have cashed in $2.40 and the NBA star technically earned $121.91.

Finally, at the 1 minute mark, the score is as such: Bryant—$162.55, President Obama—$3.21, ExxonMobil CEO—$19.13, US minimum wage—$0.12 and US median wage—$0.27. Also note that the staggering sum Bryant earns does not include endorsements.
