“Selfless Portraits” is a collaborative art project where people from all over the world draw one another’s Facebook profile pictures—the result is a gallery of beautifully diverse artworks inspired by the ubiquitous selfie.
Joey Jordan, a participant of the project, recently took things quite a few steps further by tattooing the profile picture of his assigned subject—a Brazilian man named Amarildo—onto his butt.
According to Jordan, he decided to do this as a statement about the importance of human connection—he also thinks that it will be great to be able to meet and have a coffee with Amarildo one day.
San Francisco-based artist Ivan Cash made a short film about the story behind this unusual idea and documented the process of getting the tattoo done—you can watch it below.
What do you think—is this a touching display of the strange relationships between people in the internet age or is having your face tattooed on a random stranger’s butt just too odd for you?
