Photographer Benjamin Von Wong showed that with great lighting, everyday people can look like fitness models.
Photo sharing website SmugMug commissioned Von Wong to produce “some black and white portraits of (its) employees doing something sporty”.
With $20,000 worth of “Hollywood-level lighting” and a homemade rain machine, coupled with hours of trial and error, office employees, grandparents and tech programmers were transformed into athletes.
Von Wong wrote: “Once set up properly, anyone can look absolutely phenomenal straight out of camera. No tummy tucking or Photoshop funny business needed, only the small tweaks: light, contrast and color.”
Nevertheless, he also added: “Good lighting and great equipment is only a small part of making people look their best. Getting them to believe how amazing they look, was the true magic ingredient behind the creation of these shots.”
Watch the video below on how the shoot was conducted, and find out more about the process on Medium and Von Wong’s website.
