A Zoo Redesign That Promises Freest Possible Environment For Animals

The architects over at Bjarke Ingels Group have unveiled their latest concept, which is a redesign of the Givskud Zoo in Denmark.

Named ‘Zootopia’, the 1.2 million-square-foot area is set to have a futuristic theme and a looped-structure made up of three continental areas—Asia, Africa and America.

The architects want to “integrate and hide” the animal shelters within the landscape in an effort to preserve the animals’ natural surroundings as much as possible.

Visitors can also enjoy looking at the animals without disturbing them because of the subtle facilities built into the landscape.

The entrance and center of the zoo is a large, circular area where the ticketing office, restaurants and restrooms are located at. Pathways leading to the three main areas can be accessed from this area.

An interesting aspect of the concept zoo is a large spherical glass ball that hangs over the animals’ enclosures. It is inspired by cable cars but they are still working on that idea.

Phase one of the redesign is expected to be completed in 2019.

Veuve Clicquot Mail Truck Tours The US To Revive Romance Of Handwritten Letters

In a bid to revive the romance of handwritten letters, French champagne maker Veuve Clicquot has sent a roving mail truck to tour the US to encourage people to pen letters to their family and loved ones.

Painted in the brand’s signature bright yellow, it pays tribute to its history and honors Madame Clicquot, who took over the brand after her husband’s passing in the 1800s. She communicated with suppliers and agents through letters which bore her distinctive handwriting.

Aside from being a novel way of bringing back the old-fashioned act of letter writing, the truck helps to spread awareness of the brand.

Visitors can look forward to snapping photographs in its photobooth, live music by a DJ, and performances by illusionists and digital caricaturists.

The truck is currently on the road til October, and will make an appearance at hotels and restaurants across the US.

True to its name, it will serve the brand’s signature Yellow label and Rosé champagne.

If you’re in the US, you can follow the truck’s journey on Facebook and Instagram to find out whether it’ll be in your city.
