For artists Haas and Hahn, the shanty towns—or favelas—of Rio de Janeiro have inspired them to create their murals.
More recently, they plan to undertake their “ultimate project” by covering an entire town in artworks, bringing creativity and inspiration to the favelas that are often perceived as dysfunctional and dangerous.
For this visual project, these artists would like to enlist the help of local residents, creating jobs which will allow them to give back to the community through art.
With an ambitious goal of US$100,000, they plan to set up headquarters, train a dozen painters and work on at least a hundred houses before their project will be deemed complete.
