On Christmas Eve last year, the Russian Icebreaker M.V. Akademik Shokalskiy got trapped in tightly packed ice in the Antarctic waters—along with 73 other passengers, adventure travel photographer Andrew Peacock waited to be evacuated by helicopter.
With nowhere to go, Peacock took the opportunity to document this unusual experience—the awe-inspiring Antarctic landscape might have prompted him to pick up his camera as well.
From massive and beautiful icebergs to sweet penguins who practically posed for pictures, the photographer has certainly made good use of his time on the trapped icebreaker.
