An Enchanting 160-Square-Feet Gypsy Wagon Tucked Away In A Canadian Forest

Nestled deep in the Canadian cedar forest lies an enchanting 160-square-feet gypsy wagon that looks like it emerged straight from the pages of a fairytale book.

Originally built in the mid-2000s out of recycled materials, it features an 8 by 20 foot salvaged truck chassis as a base from which curved walls and arched ceilings were constructed.

The interior of this unusual house includes a small kitchenette, desk and sleeping quarters. A 1970s picnic tabletop that doubles as a round window at one end provides a touch of whimsy, while the use of wooden furniture and furnishings give it a warm and cosy feel. Numerous windows around the house let light in and prevent it from being too claustrophobic.

The house is fully equipped with electricity and has an RV plug that connects to an external power source. An A-frame outhouse containing a composting toilet and a cast iron clawfoot bathtub is a short walk away, and there is also an outdoor tap that provides fresh spring water.

With its secluded location and whimsical design, the house-on-wheels exudes a homely, peaceful vibe which is a far cry from the crowded and stressful environments most city dwellers have to put up with.

Though it is small, it is sufficiently equipped with amenities for a comfortable life in the woods. According to this article by The Huffington Post, its current part-time owner Rachel Ross uses it as a “writer’s retreat.”
