Industrial design student Kristof Retezár has designed a self-filling water bottle prototype that turns air into water while a bicycle is in motion.
Using the principle of thermoelectric cooling—where humid air is passed through solar cells that will condense moisture from the air into water droplets—the product is able to collect up to 0.5 litters of water within an hour, in countries that has the right climate.
The Fontus is designed as a handy bicycle accessory for long bike tour, and is also a solution to water scarcity—Kistof hopes to refine the device with purification system so that it can be used in cities with pollution, and will be looking into crowdfunding options and investors to mass-produce the device.
