Giant Solar-Powered Vintage Fan Turns Sunlight Into Cool Breeze

To help cool down visitors on a hot summer’s day, Israeli designer Tal Tenne Czaczkes created a 19-foot tall, solar-powered fan sculpture.

Called ‘Ventilator’, the fan is made of fiberglass, iron, an engine and a solar-powered system, and is designed after a vintage table fan.

In the open space of Rabin Square in Tel Aviv, when the art piece is under the sun, its blades spin and the fan oscillates—like its smaller counterpart it takes after.

The fan’s ability to convert sunlight into cool breeze is exactly what everyone needs in summer; it also hopes to show the viability of solar power while cooling visitors.
