French designer Gaspard Tiné-Berès has made a series of kitchen appliances using recycled materials.
Called ‘short-circuit’, the collection of the recycled appliances is to tackle the problem of excessive electrical waste.
Combined with a main structure made of natural cork, junked electrical components and glassware from landfills were used to create coffee-makers, kettles and toasters.
“Landfill sites are increasingly becoming sources of viable and perfectly working complex electrical and electronic components. Moreover, these same components represent a major waste problem, due to their composite and toxic nature.” Said Tiné-Berès
