UK-based graphic designer Christophe Gowans has given some of the most famous albums in music history a literary make over with his ‘The Record Books’ series.
Imagining what best-selling records would look like as books, he has not only given each album a fitting book cover, but has also provided a plotline to go along with it.
For instance, The Beatles’ Abbey Road is re-imagined as “classic paperback” that tells the “story of two catholic sisters growing up in a swiftly changing post-war Britain”.
The project produced a collection of album-books—based on hit albums from Velvet Underground, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and many others legendary musicians—from diverse genres, including novels, pulp fiction, children’s books and even a dictionary.
