Italian sculptor Lorenzo Quinn creates public installations that would have viewers feeling nostalgic—but also receiving a serious message that brings it home.
In ‘Esto no es un jeugo’ (‘This is not a game’), ‘Vroom vroom’ and ‘Dolce Vita’ (‘Sweet Life’), his pieces feature large disembodied hands playing with life-size toys—of the classic well-known green army men, a car and a Vespa—similar to the way many of us as children once did.
But as light-hearted as they seem, the playful art installations make us rethink war, and the way we drive or maneuver through traffic on the roads—these things aren’t games and we should be more careful.
