In a bid to end gun violence, Japanese artist and peace activist Yoko Ono tweeted a photo of John Lennon’s bloodied glasses, the same one that Lennon was wearing when he was murdered in 1980.
Ono—who was married to the late music legend—tweeted the photo together with various haunting gun statistics to her 3.7 million Twitter followers.
The tweet also marked the 44th anniversary since she and Lennon got married on 20 March 1969.
Lennon was fatally shot in the back outside his New York apartment—where Ono still currently resides—on 8 December 1980.
