Promo CDs are usually thrown out by its recipients—as such, to strategically showcase music, Germany-based record label Kontor decided to embark on a ‘fresh’ approach with ‘old school’ vinyls.
Called ‘The Office Turntable’, Kontor created real vinyls with a faux record player.
To play the vinyls, users had to place the record on the turntable’s ‘platter’, and use their smartphones to scan the cleverly-positioned QR-codes that allowed them to listen to the music.
An integration of analog and digital devices—like a real vinyl turntable, users could use their smartphone to change tracks by moving the tonearm to various parts of the record.
