A ‘Color Thesaurus’ Documents The Many Different Names Of Similar Hues

The world of colors is a lot more varied than the simple spectrum represented in the rainbow.

To showcase the impressively large number of words that can be used to describe similar hues that would otherwise fall under a larger umbrella color category, young adult writer and illustrator Ingrid Sundberg has created a “color thesaurus” that matches each shade to their name.

For instance, “canary”, “dandelion” and “bumblebee” are all words that represents specific versions of yellow.

If you are interested in expanding your color vocabulary, view Sundberg’s entire color thesaurus here.
