A Photographic Comparison Of The iPhone Camera, From The Original To 6

Lisa Bettany of iPhone photography blog Snap Snap Snap has created handy comparison charts that show how the iPhone camera has evolved, from the original to the newly released 6.

Bettany put all eight models, including the iPhone 3G, 4, 4S and 5, through a variety of situations to see how they measure up. All photographs were taken using the popular photography app Camera+.

Unsurprisingly, image quality improved with each consecutive model. The iPhone 6 came out tops, producing sharper and more detailed macro, backlit and low light shots.

However, portraits were slightly pixelated and sunsets appeared flatter when taken with the iPhone 6, which Bettany attributed to Apple tweaking its algorithm for the new A8 processor.

One thing’s for sure—iPhone camera technology has come a long way from its blurry beginnings to its current status as one of the best smartphone cameras around.
