Central, Hong Kong, 1947
We’ve previously featured these amazing colorized versions of vintage photographs and historical events.
Hong Konger Victor Liu has taken the concept and applied it to old photographs of his city for his fledging project ‘Colourised Hong Kong.’
By carefully retouching old LIFE images with true-to-life hues, he injects color into the past to imagine what Hong Kong looked like decades ago.
Liu hopes his project will inspire others to find out more about the city’s history. “Hong Kong, a city that never sleeps, has always been eager to embrace the future by replacing the old with new. Most people have neglected and forgotten what it once was.”
