In Japan, A Haunted House With The ‘Continue’ Option When You ‘Die’

How would you like to be the main character of a horror video game or film?

Now you can experience that with this haunted house in Japan, called ‘Obaken’.

Working on the basis of reality escape rooms, its current promotion of ‘Six Exits’ requires individuals to solve puzzles in a series of six rooms, where one must be cleared before advancing to the next. Failure to complete the puzzle within the allotted time would mean ‘game over’.

The unique selling point of this haunted house is its video game inspired options—allowing players to continue after failure with a top-up of ¥200 (approximately US$2), or choosing to opt for lesser ghosts before the start of the game.

Currently, only five percent of contenders have cleared the entire game, and none have completed it without the help of ‘continuing’.
