Cycling is a healthier, cheaper and greener alternative to driving—but navigating around buses and cars on congested streets can be dangerous.
For the safety of cyclists, London-based design firm Exterior Architecture has proposed a solution: elevated bike lanes.
Called ‘SkyCycle’, the elevated bike lanes would be a cycling utopia, with no buses or cars, according to the firm.
The open-air conduits would cut across major commuter routes of the city, from one neighborhood to another, allowing urban cyclists to travel hassle-free and avoid congested streets below, by paying a small fee of about $1 British pounds per cyclist.
Exterior Architecture is currently in talks with the mayor about the project.
