Globetrotting Dog Marks His Spot In More Than 30 Countries

Meet Oscar , whose life has turned into an adventure after being rescued from the SPCA in Cape Town, South Africa.

The Alsatian, Corgi, Cocker Spaniel, and Basset Hound mix has joined his rescuer Joanne Lefson on a globetrotting adventure since 2009.

Oscar’s trekking across the globe puts an effort to bring awareness to the problem of 475 million homeless dogs worldwide – many of whom are being put down in a shelter.

Lefson has taken her furry companion to see some of the world’s most populated places, taking pictures at famous landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, the Great Wall of China and even Machu Picchu in Peru.

Unfortunately, Oscar’s journey ended last Friday in San Jose, California, after being hit by a car.

Oscar’s death “has left a deep void in my heart, and in the world that he so extensively travelled to promote compassion and adoption for his homeless friends everywhere” Said Lefson.

Despite the sudden loss, Oscar has led an illustrious life leaving his mark across the globe, allowing the world to see the wondrous ‘second life’ of a rescue dog.

Memorial services will be held on January 25, 2013 in Cape Town.
