Prada Unveils ‘The Great Gatsby’ Film Costumes

Miuccia Prada has unveiled four of 40 costume sketches for the highly-anticipated Baz Luhrmann film adaptation of ‘The Great Gatsby’.

Inspired by previous Prada or Miu Miu styles, the costumes—created with the help of costume designer Catherine Martin—feature shimmering dresses, fringes and sequins, luxurious fur, and the likes resonant of the glitz and glam in the 20s era.

“Our collaboration with Prada recalls the European flair that was emerging amongst the aristocratic East Coast crowds in the Twenties,” Martin told British VOGUE. “The fashions of the time saw the development of the dichotomy between those who aspired to the privileged, Ivy League look of wealthy Long Island and those who were aspiring to European glamour, sophistication and decadence.”

Some of the creations would be worn by actress Carey Mulligan who plays the flighty Daisy Buchanan on the film.
