Brooklyn-based artist Iviva Olenick has started a project named “@embroiderypoems”, where she collects “poetry” from Twitter and embroiders them onto handkerchiefs.
The project is funded by the Brooklyn Arts Council and features poignant snippets of text that are actually updates found on Twitter feeds.
There is a general melancholic vibe to these Twitter “poems’ that makes us wonder if the social media generation is filled with people who are more alone and depressed than ever before—perhaps, being connected on so many levels is not a good thing.
You can view all the @embroiderypoems over here—they are on sale too.
