From the Netherlands, TU/e’s Solar Team Eindhoven has created the world’s first solar-powered family car.
This vehicle is called “Stella” and it is an ‘energy positive’ vehicle that sits four, has a fully accessible trunk space, an intuitive steering system, and a range of 600 kilometers.
It is equipped with photo-voltaic panels on its roof to generate more electricity than it consumes, which means it produces electricity at a surplus, and that excess can be returned to the power grid.
The Stella also promises a great driving experience. A combination of LED strip applications and touchscreen display transforms buttons and knobs to an 'interactive cockpit experience'. Intuitive driving is enabled with an expanding and contracting steering wheel that warns the user when they are driving too fast or too slow.
