Lovers of LEGO may think that these colorful plastic bricks are as good as they can be, but Brooklyn-based designers Emily Webster and Mustafa Bagdatli have given the classic toy building blocks a long over-due update with Tangeez.
Described as “physical pixels” by its creators, Tangeez are interactive building blocks that light up and change color as you stack them.
Round in shape, each Tangeez block comes with three prongs on top and three holes at the bottom for connecting with other blocks—a 3-color LED illuminates it from the inside.
These blocks can only light up when they are connected to another block—connecting one prong lights the block up in the color red, blue or green, while using two or three prongs at once mixes colors and creates new ones.
The more the user changes and arranges the blocks, the more colors are produced, creating a beautiful structure of shifting shades.
Tangeez is currently sourcing for funds on Kickstarter—find out more about this fun toy for both adults and children in the video below.
