Freelance industrial designer Jorge Trevino Blanco has created a concept design of a handheld GPS that could improve visually-impaired users’ navigation experiences on pavements and streets.
‘Discover’ is a GPS concept that provides a tactile navigation experience for the blind.
The device’s attached camera records the surroundings, such as building and cars, before converting it into 3D scenes with its pin surface.
To navigate, the user just need to use their thumb and fingers to feel the 3D scenes on the pin surface, which helps them to imagine the objects that are in their path.
