Russian photographer Elena Chernyshova turns the mundane act of waiting into exquisite vignettes amid the hectic rush of city life.
Her series ‘Awaiting Movement’ beautifully captures lovely, still moments of commuters on a platform waiting for a train and staring out of windows.
In her images, time seems to slow down as their subjects take a moment to pause and reflect during their otherwise busy lives.
“Whether you’re in France, the Czech Republic, China, Singapore, Nepal, the expressions on the faces of the passengers are the same. Waiting for transport is a universal ‘emotion.’ Waiting gives everyone a moment of personal introspection.”
