When photographer Farhad Rahman learnt that a piece of land in Dhaka, Bangladesh, will be transformed into a construction site soon, he decided to document the children that often frequented the area.
In his photo series ‘One Last Playground’, Rahman took dreamy portraits of the children as they played at the vast, sandy lands at Dhaka’s Beribadh.
Despite the emptiness of the plot of land—there were no trees for the kids to climb, or grass patches for them to roll on—the children turned the place into their own "playground" by bringing their bicycles, dogs, and random items to play with.
The joy in the children’s faces, while distinctive, are ironic—perhaps they are savoring every moment they have left with their playground before it closes down.
