Hong Kong-based BBDO creative director Kevin Lynch has embarked on ‘Yearbnb’, an ambitious quest to only stay in Airbnb apartments for a year.
Lacking a place to stay after moving to the city last year, and spurred by a desire to experience it as authentically as possible, he turned to the popular home-rental website for his housing needs.
“When you use Airbnb, you’re not just staying somewhere, you’re living there and getting the local vibe—it is a much richer experience,” said the adventurous creative.
Lynch’s gung-ho attitude has resulted in him staying in accommodations that range from the wacky—think a cow shed, tee pee and boat—to the downright hair-raising. He recalls a tiny bug-infested room with walls covered in bloodstains, a scenario that would have most people running out of there screaming.
He documents his adventures on his
