Instead of capturing the special moments shared between his newlywed clients in still photos, photographer Jeffrey Lewis Bennet preserves and “freezes” them in the form of animated GIFs instead.
Bennet, owner of Detroit-based JLB Wedding, captures scenes of newlyweds sharing a kiss and slow dancing in various locations in his GIFs.
Unlike most GIFs which are created with video excerpts, Bennet prefers to use a series of photos that were shot rapidly as he enjoys the “distinct, choppy stop-motion look”.
Some of his work also resembled cinemegraphs, where parts of the photo were subtly animated, giving an intimate and romantic feel to the photo.
Bennet told HuffPost Weddings that he believes “the best GIFs communicate the feeling of the infinite… like how a great kiss can feel like it’s lasting lifetime while the rest of the world spins on outside of your private moment.”
