Photographer E. Brady Robinson’s project, ‘Art Desks’, started with an accidental shot.
Robinson recalled to Slate that after she took a photo of a staff’s workspace during on of her assignments, she was curious about how other art makers’ working spaces looked like.
In ‘Art Desks’, Robinson featured 57 photos of workspaces owned by artists, curators, art dealers, critics, and tastemakers from East Coast.
Her photos revealed varying levels of creative clutter that dominated these workspaces, but it seems like she was most interested in the desks owned by artists.
“They’re least likely to clean up before I get there… which is maybe a little messier, a little more unfiltered. I feel the artists aren’t hiding anything,” said Robinson.
Scroll down for a selection of photos from her book, which will be released later this year.
