A Chart That Shows Which English Words Came From Arabic

The team at Oxford Dictionaries has come up with a list of English words that have Arabic origins.



This short and comprehensive chart shows how each word is written in Arabic. The word is then transliterated and we can see how it has evolved. We now know that words like “girafffe”, “alcohol” and even “sofa” came from this beautiful language.
